Madic Benelux is looking for a Hardware Engineer
Ask yourself this…
- Do you get energized by working in an ambitious organization?
- Are you not afraid of change, but instead see our transition as an opportunity to make a real impact?
- Do you enjoy building structure and shaping the organization of the future within your field of expertise?
- Do you love working with a customer-oriented mindset, while keeping a strong focus on efficiency and profitability?
- Are service, quality, and proactivity values you strongly believe in?
If you find yourself nodding “yes,” then MADIC Benelux might just be the place for you.
Who is MADIC ?
MADIC Group is an international player with a long history in energy, maintenance, software and innovative solutions such as charging infrastructure and hydrogen. MADIC Benelux was created in Belgium through mergers and acquisitions, giving us a broad portfolio today: from pumps and service to software and new forms of energy. In the coming years, we want to focus on the structured expansion of our portfolio within the Benelux region.
This diversity offers enormous opportunities, but also brings complexity. In the past, acquisitions and a lack of synergy have led to staff turnover and customer loss. Today, we are once again focusing on structure, efficiency and customer focus to prepare the organisation for the future.
Our core values
We believe that success is built on five core values:
- No-nonsense – we keep things simple, clear, and effective.
- Service-minded – the customer is at the heart of everything we do.
- Proactivity – we think ahead and seize opportunities.
- Quality – “first time right” is our standard.
- Entrepreneurial spirit – we are always looking for smart, profitable solutions.
Function, tasks and responsibilities
You will work on our modular hardware platform, which controls the forecourt. It consists of a main controller (based on a Raspberry Pi CM4 running Debian) and a Forecourt link. The Forecourt link uses plug-in interface cards to communicate with different devices. Your main task will be to continue developing this platform by designing new interface cards and writing the necessary embedded software.
While this will be your primary focus, you will also work on other hardware projects. You’ll collaborate with software developers who handle the high-level operations on the main controller. We will give you a full year to learn and become familiar with the project.
As our dedicated hardware engineer, you’ll manage the entire hardware project from beginning to end. This includes:
- Prototyping and hardware design.
- Embedded programming.
- Testing, certification, and procurement.
- Debugging and managing production.
Since you will be the only hardware engineer, self-discipline and self-organization are crucial. The upside is you will have the freedom to manage your work and projects as you see fit.
You will:
- Design and develop new interface cards to support more manufacturers.
- Update the main controller to work with both the Raspberry Pi CM4 and CM5.
- Assist our colleagues abroad with their hardware projects.
Our requirements
- Higher education or a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
- The ability to handle the entire process from concept to production.
- Experience designing industrial electronics and PCBs with microcontrollers, serial communication (UART, SPI, I2C), Ethernet, and galvanic isolation.
- Proficiency in programming microcontrollers in C to implement low-level protocols, state machines, and data translation.
- Performing market analysis to find the best components and communicating with suppliers and subcontractors.
Helpful skills (you can learn these on the job):
- 3D drafting (we use FreeCAD) to design metal enclosures in coordination with a subcontractor.
- Eagle CAD for PCB design (we are migrating to KiCad).
- Experience with Microchip microcontrollers (8-bit pic16f to 16-bit 24f and MPLAB® X IDE) and Raspberry Pi Compute Modules 4 & 5.
- Knowledge of EMC testing, Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), and ATEX directives.
Who are you?
You recognise yourself in our values and, on top of that, you bring:
- Transparent communication – you tell it like it is, in a respectful manner.
- Positive mindset – you see change as an opportunity.
- Can-do attitude – you don’t shy away from challenges, but roll up your sleeves and go for it.
- Value for team spirit – you feel at home in a fun, informal atmosphere where we support each other.
What we offer
At MADIC Benelux, you get more than just a job – you get the opportunity to be part of a great story.
- A competitive salary package with attractive benefits.
- Opportunities to grow and move into other roles within the organization.
- An open company culture with a flat hierarchy and short decision lines.
- The chance to think and act like an entrepreneur, making a real impact.
- Respect for your work-life balance – because happy employees create happy customers.
